BRISTOL, R.I. -- Kaelin Hogan had six points during an 8-1 run in the 1st half that separated Roger Williams University from the University of New England in a 19-12 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's lacrosse win on Saturday afternoon (Apr. 7) at Bayside Field.
After facing an early 2-1 deficit, the Hawks came out of a 3-all tie behind Hogan's four-goal, two-assist effort. The Nor'easters got one back before halftime (11-5), and scored the first three of the 2nd to narrow the spread to three, but RWU netted five of the next six to distance itself again (16-9).
Hogan finished with five goals and three helpers, as well as six draw controls. Devon Sarazin had five goal, too, and Emily Stoeppel was one of four players with two goals, while also collecting nine draws. Lydia Nelson recorded nine saves defending the cage for Roger Williams (8-3, 3-1 CCC).
For UNE (4-7, 1-3 CCC),
Anna Stowell had a team-high three goals.
Megan O'Grady,
Casey Conwell, and
Keara Dwyer all scored twice.
Jolena Lampron registered a goal, two assists, nine ground balls, and four caused turnovers.
Kyra Taylor secured five draws to go with her one goal, and
Maritza Nary posted nine stops.
The Nor'easters have a week off before returning to Rhode Island to face Salve Regina University next Saturday.
