SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Sixth-seeded University of New England trailed at 4-3 near the midway mark of the 1st half, but stormed to a 17-8 triumph over No.3 Western New England University in the opening round of the 2018 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Women's Lacrosse Championship on Saturday afternoon (Apr. 28) at Golden Bear Stadium.
The Nor'easters (8-8) are into the league semifinals for a third consecutive year, and will head for second-seeded Roger Williams University on Tuesday

Molly Camelo paced the visiting squad with four goals and six points.
Korinne Bohunsky (CCC 2nd Team) added three goals and two assists, along with a match-best nine draw controls.
Jolena Lampron (CCC 1st Team) also registered three scores, while two apiece came from
Mackenzie Collins and
Keara Dwyer (CCC 2nd Team).
UNE received a game-high six ground balls from
Olivia Carpenter, who joined Lampron and Camelo to force 10 of Western New England's 33 turnovers. Big Blue had less than half that total (16).
The Nor'easters posted a commanding 50-19 advantage in shots, leaving goalkeeper
Maritza Nary to make seven saves for the victory. UNE cashed in on seven free-position chances, as opposed to WNEU, which came up empty in three tries.
For the Golden Bears, Kristen Breen (CCC 3rd Team) and Lindsey Phillips each had three scores. Eileen Ruby (CCC 3rd Team) contributed three assists and seven draws; Phillips accounted for five more for the hosts, who captured 16 of 27 restarts. Shannon McFadden (CCC 3rd Team) logged 19 stops in goal.
Roger Williams claimed the lone meeting with UNE back on April 7 in Rhode Island, using a 9-2 first-half spurt to reach a decision of the same margin (19-12). Tuesday's contest will make it two years in-a-row the teams have squared off in the conference semifinals.
