BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England women's lacrosse team took a one-goal halftime edge and turned it into an 11-4 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) victory over Western New England University on Saturday afternoon (Mar. 31) at the Big Blue Turf.

UNE led from start-to-finish, after two scores in the opening 57 seconds. The 4-3 cushion at the midway break became 6-3 early in the 2nd, and after the Golden Bears got one back, consecutive goals while down a player helped the Nor'easters stretch out their advantage (8-4) with less than 13 minutes remaining.

Molly Camelo had a team-best three goals for UNE (4-5, 1-1 CCC), while Jolena Lampron and Anna Stowell each added a pair. Olivia Carpenter, Sydney Cooke, Korinne Bohunsky, and Casey Conwell accounted for the rest of the offense, which was supported by two assists from Mackenzie Collins.

Stowell and Lampron combined for nine draw controls, and Megan O'Grady had three caused turnovers. Recording two saves apiece were Maritza Nary and Taylor Hopkins.

For Western New England (1-8, 1-1 CCC), Ashley Hudson tallied two goals. Rebecca Allen had two assists and four draws, while Kaitlyn Marchant posted 18 saves to go with her game-high five ground balls.

It was UNE's fourth straight result in the all-time series with the Golden Bears.

The Nor'easters are set to entertain Gordon College in the league action on Wednesday (4 p.m.).
