Babson shuts down UNE in 2nd half for win

BABSON PARK, Mass. -- After surrendering the initial score of the 2nd period, Babson College recorded the last 10 goals to pull away to a 21-9 women's lacrosse result against the University of New England on Thursday afternoon (Mar. 15) at MacDowell Field.

Three different players -- Lexi Lenaghan, Taylor Thorbahn, and Taylor Herrmann -- tallied two goals during the closing stretch for the Beavers (3-3), which extended the 11-8 halftime cushion.

Lenaghan had 10 points in the contest for the hosts, with six goals and four assists. Thorbahn netted four with three helpers, and Herrmann finished with three goals. Julia Harrigan and Isabelle Lent combined for 17 draw controls, and Cricket Fligor totaled four saves in nearly 49 minutes defending the cage.

For UNE (2-2), Nichole Carvalho had four goals and an assist. Jolena Lampron did a little of everything, tallying two goals, an assists, and game highs of four ground balls and three caused turnovers. The attack was supported by two goals from Molly Camelo and three assists out of Keara Dwyer. Maritza Nary logged six stops in 37:34 of action.

The Nor'easters started well, leading 2-1 before pocketing three in-a-row to go up 5-3. Babson tied things back up at 7-all, part of six unanswered to take an 11-7 advantage.

UNE will be back in action on Friday (4 p.m.) at home versus Thomas College.
