BIDDEFORD, Maine --
Jessie Scott tallied a goal in each of the first two periods to lead the University of New England in a 3-1 New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) women's victory over Castleton University on Friday afternoon (Feb. 9) at the Harold Alfond Forum.
The Nor'easters move to 9-8-7 overall and 4-4-5 in league games, while the Spartans slip back to 11-12-1 and 7-5-1 in the NEHC.
Scott had UNE in front before the midway mark of the 1st with her team-leading seventh goal of the season, and made it 2-0 less than 20 minutes later in the middle of the 2nd session.
Carly Perreault got on the board with her first marker of the year at 13:45, sending the Nor'easters into the 3rd with a 3-0 cushion.
Castleton broke up the shutout bid with 5:56 to go on a power-play score by Ali Stevens, but UNE goalie
Caty Flagg finished off her 35-save performance, through 47 seconds of 6-on-4, to get the win.
Alexis Kalm made 25 stops for the Spartans.
The Nor'easters welcome in No.1 Norwich University for the regular-season finale on Saturday (4 p.m.).
