BIDDEFORD, Maine – Daniel Kucerovy scored a hat trick as part of a four-goal second period to lead the Endicott College men's ice hockey team over the University of New England 7-3 on Saturday night at the Harold Alfond Forum.
The night started off well for the Nor'easters as
Brady Fleurent gave them a 1-0 lead early in the first period. Josh Bowes answered back for the Gulls to tie the game with 10:19 to go in the opening frame.
Ryan Bloom beat the goaltender one-on-one for a short-handed score to give UNE a 2-1 lead at the intermission.
Kucerovy scored all three of his goal in the third period as Endicott took control of the game. Luke Rodgers also added a score as the Gulls jumped in front 5-2.
Fleurent cut the deficit to 5-3 late in third with his second score of the night. James Winkler added two empty net goals to put the game out of reach.
Conor O'Brien made 37 saves for Endicott, who was outshot 40-36 on the night.
Ben Churchfield had 22 saves over the first two periods.
Tate Sproxton stopped all seven shots he faced in the third.
UNE will have nearly a month off until its next contest against #12 Hobart at the Middlebury College Holiday Classic on Saturday, Dec. 29. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
