SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- Mount Holyoke College captured 10 of 12 swimming events to set back the University of New England women's swimming team by a 151-105 margin on Saturday (Nov. 3) at the MHC Natatorium.
Naomi Brown, Bri Groves, Tamara Mukulu, and Jacqueling Park each claimed two races for the Lyons in the result.
Taryn Leach and
Haley Griffin earned first-place points for the Nor'easters, in the 100-individual medley (1:09.36) and 50-butterfly (29.50), respectively. Griffin also took second in both the 100-butterfly (1:06.49) and 100-backstroke (1:07.36), while Leach was narrowly out-touched by Mount Holyoke's Caitlyn Richmond for the top spot in the 50-backstroke (30.86 to 30.96).
McKenna Riley was right there in the 50 back, too, clocking a 30.99 for third. Additionally, she was second to Mukulu in the 100-freestyle by just 0.72 seconds (59.99).
MiKayla Sargent was runner-up in three events -- the 1,000-freestyle (12:14.76), 100-breaststroke (1:18.04), and 50 fly (31.19).
Haleigh Kology (200-freestyle, 2:11.50) and
Melissa Jakubowski (100 IM, 1:12.66) each took a second place, as well.
UNE will swim against Saint Joseph's College of Maine and Husson University at SJC next Saturday (11 a.m.).
