#8 Nor’easters complete weekend sweep over Curry, 6-2

BIDDEFORD, Maine. – The No. 8 University of New England men's hockey team scored a season-high three power-play goals on its way to a 6-2 victory over Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) foe Curry at the Harold Alfond Forum on Saturday night.
 
The Colonels (3-3-2, 2-3-1 CCC) struck first early in the game as Anthony Trujillo scored off a rebound. Ryan Bloom tied the game minutes later as Brady Fleurent found him at the left circle on a cross-ice pass for a one-timer. [Watch]
 
Dylan Bengtson put the Nor'easters in front midway through the first, netting his second of the year from close range [Watch]. Jimmy Elser notched his first-career goal with 4:12 to play in the first to give UNE a 3-1 advantage at the intermission. [Watch]
 
The Nor'easters (5-1-1, 5-1-1 CCC) extended their lead to 4-1 late in the second on a tally by Derek Mecrones [Watch]. Curry answered with a power-play goal by Zachary White with 2:56 to play. A turnover just seconds later allowed Austin Morgan to light the lamp for the first score of his career and give UNE a 5-2 lead through two periods. [Watch]
 
Aaron Aragon stole the puck at center ice and went the distance late in the third to seal the game. [Watch]
 
Cody Murch made 30 saves for the visitors. Ben Chruchfield turned away 18 shots on the night for UNE.
 
The Nor'easters return to action at home on Tuesday, Nov. 20 against in-state rival Bowdoin at 7 p.m.
