#8 UNE nets fastest goal in 4-1 win at Curry

MILTON, Mass. – The No.8 University of New England men's hockey team scored a record-setting goal to start the game on its way to a 4-1 victory over Curry College in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Friday night at Max Ulin Rink.
 
Just five seconds into action, Dylan Bengtson found Brady Fleurent for his third goal of the year. The tally tied the fastest score to start a game in NCAA Division III history, joining Chris Palin of Brockport from back in 1989.
 
UNE added a power-play goal later in the first as Tyler Seltenreich found the back of the net off feeds from Jeff Eppright and Dimitris Jones.
 
Ryan Bloom scored a short-handed goal midway through the second period. Neil Maietta contributed his first of the year at the 8:50 mark of the third to give UNE a 4-0 lead. Alexander Bouchard scored late in the period for the Colonels.
 
Bengtson assisted on three of the four Nor'easter goals. UNE held a commanding 37-19 advantage in shots. Ben Churchfield turned away 18 shots, while Justin Ketola made 33 saves for Curry.
  
Both teams return to the ice tomorrow night at the Harold Alfond Forum. Puck drops at 7 p.m.
