#8 UNE skates away from Golden Bears, 8-1

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Aaron Aragon scored two goals for the second consecutive night to help the No.8 University of New England men's hockey team to an 8-1 victory over Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) foe Western New England University on Saturday night.
 
Aragon scored his first 4:05 into the game off an assist from Jimmy Elser. The Golden Bears immediately answered back as Lliam Christiano found Marko Bohatiuk off the ensuing face-off just seven seconds later.
 
It was all Nor'easters from there as the visitors added four more goals in the period to take a commanding 5-1 lead after one. Dyland Bengston, Brett Mecrones, Brady Fleurent, and Liam Neuman helped build the UNE lead.
 
The Nor'easters scored three more times in the second as Aragon started with his second of the night. Ryan Bloom and Derek Mecrones provided the final two tallies for UNE.
 
Fleurent and Bloom each had three points to lead the Nor'easters. Ben Churchfield made 13 saves over the first two periods, while Tate Sproxton held the Golden Bears scoreless with seven stops in the third. Kevin Gollmer had 42 saves for WNE. UNE launched a season-best 50 shots on goal compared to 21 for the Golden Bears.
 
The Nor'easters are back in action on Friday, Nov. 16 at Curry. Game time is set for 6:50 p.m.
