BEVERLY, Mass. -- Kristen McCarthy scored with just under 10 minutes to go in the opening half, lifting Endicott College to a 1-0 decision against the University of New England as the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) field hockey schedule came to a close on Friday evening (Oct. 26) at North Field.

The result give the Gulls (15-4) the top seed in the upcoming CCC Championship with a perfect league record of 12-0. The Nor'easters (11-9, 10-2 CCC) will take the second seed into the postseason tournament; both squads will host semifinal games next week.

McCarthy, who entered the night ranked second in the nation in goals, netted her 27th off a feed from Sydney Poulin to put the hosts in front.

The Nor'easters held a slim lead in shots during the 1st period (7-5) and doubled-up Endicott in the 2nd (12-6), but couldn't put one past Gulls goalie Taylor Farrin, who made 11 saves. UNE also posted an 8-2 cushion in penalty corners.

Liz Sargent totaled three stops for the visiting side.

UNE turns its attention to a Thursday visit from third-seeded Western New England University. [Interactive Bracket] The Nor'easters swept the Golden Bears with scores of 5-1 and 4-1 during the regular season.
