Strong second half leads Mount St. Mary’s past UNE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Mount Saint Mary's University women's rugby scored five tries in the second half to pick up a 47-13 victory over the University of New England on Saturday afternoon at Barbara J. Hazard Field.
 
The Mountaineers jumped out to a 14-0 lead after tries by Lavona Aromin and Molly Jackson. Zoe Adams put UNE on the board with a penalty conversion to trim the deficit to 14-3. Kathryn Maiato and Jenni Laferriere added tries as the Nor'easters trailed by just one, 14-13, at halftime.
 
Mount Saint Mary's controlled most of the second half. Lauren Judkins scored twice while Jenna Lewaren, Tania Wheeler, and Ubaida Ahmed each had a try.
 
UNE closes out the regular season next weekend (Oct. 27) at West Chester. Game time is set for 11 a.m.
