BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Four different players scored for the University of New England women's ice hockey team in a 4-1 New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) victory over Plymouth State University on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 27) at the Harold Alfond Forum.
Caty Flagg backstopped the result for the Nor'easters (8-6-7, 3-2-5 NEHC), posting 44 saves as her side was out-shot by two in the contest.
UNE pocketed two of its goals on the power play, including the opening score by
Annie Mullen 2:35 into the 2nd period.
The Panthers managed to tie things just before the midway mark of the frame on a goal by Mackenzie Kennedy, but the Nor'easters regained the edge for good with tallies by
Tatum Gietl and
Shannon Nadeau prior to the second intermission.
Katie Babineau padded the cushion late in the 3rd for the hosts, making her one of three players with a couple points. Gietl also helped on one goal, while
Jessie Scott assisted on a pair of markers.
In goal for Plymouth State (6-10-4, 5-3-2 NEHC), Emelie Lindqvist made 39 stops.
UNE will play next weekend on the road, starting with Salve Regina University on Friday (7 p.m.).
