Statistics

GORHAM, Maine -- The University of New England fell behind very early but rallied for a 3-3 overtime draw with the University of Southern Maine on Friday night (Jan. 19) in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) women's ice hockey action at USM Ice Arena.

On Saturday, the Nor'easters (6-6-6, 1-2-4 NEHC) and Huskies (6-11-1, 2-4-1 NEHC) will meet once again in Biddeford. The puck is set to drop at 4 p.m.

USM wasted no time getting out in front, as Shannon Colbert scored with 12 seconds gone and then Julia Ormsby made it 2-0 after just 1:01 of play.

UNE got one back off the stick of Alex Mitchell, but the Huskies grabbed a 3-1 lead through 20 minutes on a goal by Katie Nolan. The scoreboard did not reflect the quantity of scoring chances, though, as the Nor'easters had a 14-9 advantage in shots.

The visitors continued to maintain that particular edge for the rest of the evening, and reduced the deficit to one (3-2) in the latter stages of the 2nd on a tally by Marykate Drinkwater. Tatum Gietl and Julianne Sheehan assisted on the score.

The UNE equalizer came from Annie Mullen, with the help of Gietl and Sheehan, near the midway mark of the 3rd.

Big Blue doubled-up USM in total shots (48-24), forcing Huskies goaltender Britney Evangelista into 45 saves to keep her side in play for a result.

For the Nor'easters, Caty Flagg had 15 stops upon re-entering for the closing 45 minutes. Annie Rademacher logged six saves and surrendered one goal over the final 18:59 of the opening stanza.
