BRISTOL, R.I. -- The University of New England topped Gordon College by a 149-78 tally and fell to Roger Williams University (162-96) in women's swimming on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 13) at the RWU Aquatics Center.

Kayla Burgess and MiKayla Sargent got the Nor'easters (4-3) started with second-place finishes in the 100-butterfly (1:03.09) and 1000-freestyle (12:09.83), respectively. Burgess was just 0.26 seconds out of the top spot in the 200 fly.

Burgess received first-place points in the 500-freestyle (5:47.43), as did Taryn Leach in the 200-backstroke (2:31.40). Leach was 0.25 ahead of teammate McKenna Riley.

UNE will pay a visit to Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Sunday (11 a.m.).
