GORHAM, Maine -- Members of the University of New England men's golf team took part in the Southern Maine Cup on Friday (Sep. 29) at Gorham Country Club.
The Nor'easters were unable to register a team score in the modifed-format event, which annually provides a break from the traditional style of collegiate golf, pairing teammates for an 18-hole round that consists of three sections -- six holes in the format of best ball, six holes of scramble, and six holes of alternate shot.
By virtue of a tiebreaker, the host Huskies (211) won the title over Saint Joseph's College (211). The University of Maine-Farmington placed third at 216.
Three duos carded 3-under par rounds of 68 to share the top total of the day.
