UNE gets 59-30 result versus Black Bears

ORONO, Maine -- The University of New England women's rugby team received scores from six different players and pulled away in the 2nd half to defeat the University of Maine club squad on Saturday (Sep. 23).

Lara Murnik accounted for three tries to pace the offense, while Zoe Adams added a pair to go with 6-of-9 conversion attempts. Caitlin Paredes, Kaitlin Drumheller, Kierstin Stritch, and Sydney Rees all contributed one try to the cause, and Emma Foss connected on her only conversion play.

With a 35-22 halftime advantage, the defense held strong following the break to secure the win. Leading the way with 28 tackles was Amanda Sancomb, and Murnick chipped in with 19 more. Jenni Laferriere (15), Kassidy Towne (12), Rees (12), and Mackenzie Anderson (11) all reached double digit tackle totals as well.

The Nor'easters are scheduled to host Sacred Heart University next Saturday (6 p.m.) at Barbara J. Hazard Field.
