FARMINGTON, Maine -- Led by a 6th-place finish by
Donovan Duffy, the University of New England men's cross country team took second out of seven schools at the University of Maine-Farmington Invitational on Saturday afternoon (Sep. 2) at Mt. Blue High School.
The Nor'easters tallied 66 points on the day, which was not enough to catch Colby-Sawyer College at 36. The host Beavers wound up in third with 71 points.
UMF's Jeremiah Sands tripped the timer as the first individual of 89 to cross the line on the 5-kilometer course in 16:50.
Duffy completed his first collegiate race in 17:44, paving the way for the UNE.
Jon Zalman was the next member of the squad to finish, taking 12th, while
Alec Walker,
Caleb Pulliam, and
Matthew Toussaint occupied 14th, 16th, and 18th, respectively.
The Nor'easters will entertain the UNE Invitational next Saturday (Sep. 9) at Rotary Park in Biddeford, aiming to extend their streak of three consecutive wins in the event.
