OAKLAND, Maine --
Michael Rich carded a collegiate-best 73 to pace the University of New England men's golf team in a 3rd-place showing out of eight squads at the University of Maine-Farmington Invitational on Wednesday (Sep. 13) at Waterville Country Club.
The three-over-par number by Rich was the second-lowest of the day in the field of competitors, just two strokes off the pace set by UMF's Eric Aguiar (71).
Aguiar and the host Beavers totaled 300 to win the event, in front of the University of Southern Maine (311) and the Nor'easters (318). Saint Joseph's College (323) and Husson University (330) followed in fourth and fifth.
UNE received a 79 out of
Hunter Drew and matching rounds of 83 by
Garrett Krisko and
Dylan Andrews to arrive at its team score.
Rich's individual runner-up was the second top-2 finish by a Big Blue golfer over the last six seasons.
The Nor'easters will visit Martindale Country Club in this weekend for the two-day Maine Championship. The opening tee time on Saturday is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
