BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Five different players each contributed a pair of goals to help the University of New England women's lacrosse team to a 13-9 win over Castleton University in a non-conference match played in frigid conditions Sunday afternoon (Mar. 5) at the Big Blue Turf.

The Nor'easters led from start-to-finish, scoring the first two goals of the afternoon en route to a 6-2 halftime cushion. The Spartans would get no closer than three the rest of the match.

UNE dominated in ground balls (34-16) and caused turnovers (16-4). Davee scooped up seven ground balls to lead all players, while Jolena Lampron contributed four draw controls and three ground balls.

The Spartans received a match-high nine draw controls from Grace Johnson.

Winning goalkeeper Maritza Nary registered seven saves for UNE. Samantha Hebb had 12 for Castleton, which plays at Western New England University on Tuesday.

The Nor'easters will host Bowdoin College that same afternoon for a non-conference game starting at 4 p.m.
