BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Gabby Reinold and Elizabeth Ettridge scored three goals apiece as Bridgewater State University defeated the University of New England, 12-10, in a college women's lacrosse match played Wednesday (Mar. 22) at Swenson Field.
Rebecca McGlone added a pair of goals for the Bears (3-4), while Victoria McDonough had one to go with two assists.
Anna Stowell tallied a match-high four goals to power the Nor'easters' attack and give her eight scores over the last two games.
Brooke Kelleher and
Korinne Bohunsky chipped in two goals apiece, and
Kimberly Gosselin led all players with three assists.
The game was tightly-contested the whole way, with neither team holding a lead of more than three the entire juncture. Trailing 8-5, UNE rallied in the second half with four consecutive goals to grab a 9-8 lead. After an Ettridge goal would tie the score (9-9), Reinold scored back-to-back markers to give Bridgewater State the lead for good. Stowell cut the Nor'easter deficit to one (11-10) with 11:56 left, but the Bears would keep UNE off the scoreboard the remainder of the contest.
Bohunsky recorded her second consecutive double-digit draw control performance, piling up 11 wins for the Nor'easters.
Jocelyn Davee contributed five ground balls and five caused turnovers.
Winning goalkeeper Allie Forman had 12 saves, while
Maritza Nary stopped five shots for UNE.
The Nor'easters (3-4) will look to snap a three-game losing streak Saturday when they open up Commonwealth Coast Conference play with a 4 p.m. road match at Nichols College.
