PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- A goal in each of the first couple periods, and two more in the 3rd, gave Johnson & Wales University (R.I.) a 4-0 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's ice hockey win over the University of New England on Saturday evening (Nov. 4) at Lynch Arena.
The Wildcats (1-2, 1-1 CCC) bounced back from an 8-4 setback in Biddeford last night, receiving a 41-save effort out of Mike Rockwell between the pipes.
Nicholas Pezza got the scoring started for the hosts at the 6:18 mark of the 1st, and that margin held until Craig Hessenius found the back of the net on the power-play with exactly seven minutes remaining in the middle frame.
Alan Boozer and Graham Day (empty net) padded the cushion in the last stanza. Victor Carlsson had two assists for JWU.
For the Nor'easters (1-1, 1-1 CCC),
Tate Sproxton turned in 16 saves. UNE will head for Levy Rink and a date with Nichols College on Friday (6:40 p.m.).
