HENNIKER, N.H. -- Third-period goals by
Jessie Scott and
Jessica Tolzman lifted the University of New England towards a 3-2 New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) victory over New England College in women's ice hockey action Friday afternoon (Nov. 3) at Lee Clement Arena.
The Nor'easters (1-0, 1-0 NEHC) separated from a tied game at 1-all through two frames with the tallies by a pair of newcomers. First it was Scott from
Tatum Gietl at the 7:10 mark, and then with 13:00 elapsed, both Scott and Gietl setup Tolzman's goal.
The Pilgrims (0-3, 0-1 NEHC) added a power-play score with 1:47 left to close the gap, courtesy of Brittany Tierney.
Caty Flagg posted 29 saves to backstop the UNE decision.
The Nor'easters notched the only goal in the 1st, as
Marykate Drinkwater scored with an assist to
Shannon Upton midway through the session.
Tierney got NEC back even with 2:25 left in the 2nd.
Ashley Castriotta totaled 34 stops for the home team.
UNE will visit Plymouth State University on Saturday (2 p.m.) for another NEHC date.
