UNE offers Top 10 performance at James Earley Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- The University of New England men's cross country team placed 9th out of 37 entries at Westfield State University's James Earley Invitational on Saturday (Oct. 7) at Stanley Park.

Trinity College (74) edged rival Williams College (77) by three points for the title, with Norwich University (112), Amherst College (121) and Westfield State (150) following behind. UNE posted a team total of 344.

Ben Wright continued his breakout season, placing 29th with an eight-kilometer time of 27:28. Matthew Toussaint finished in 57th place with a time of 28:23, while Caleb Pulliam and Donovan Duffy crossed the line just 16 hundredths of a second apart at 28:49.22 and 28:49.38 to place 78th and 79th, respectively. Jon Zalman was the Nor'easters' other scoring competitor, placing 108th with a time of 29:27.

UNE will take part in the State of Maine Championship next Saturday. That event is being hosted by Bowdoin College.
