BRISTOL, R.I. --
Olivia Madore found the back of the net twice as the University of New England rolled to a 5-0 result over Roger Williams University in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) field hockey tilt on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 7) at Bayside Field.
The Nor'easters (9-4, 6-1 CCC) are now unbeaten in 11 all-time meetings with the Hawks (4-7, 2-5 CCC).
UNE gained control of the scoreboard in the 11th minute with a marker from Madore, and extended the gap in the 24th and 29th as
Hannah Buckley and
Marge Gardiner got into the scoring action.
The visiting squad wasted little time upping the 3-0 halftime margin, courtesy of Madore's second in the 38th minute and then
Vonde Saunders just 70 seconds later.
Saunders had two assists for the Nor'easters, who racked up a 31-3 shot advantage. Buckley and
Brooke Lemerise also collected helpers.
Liz Sargent was needed for two saves to earn the shutout, while Roger Williams goalie Mya Lunn closed with six stops.
UNE will have little opportunity to rest as No.11 Bowdoin College visits the Big Blue Turf on Sunday (3 p.m.).
