UNE places 5th at CCC Invitational

BRISTOL, R.I. -- The University of New England women's swimming team took fifth out of seven institutions at the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Invitational meet on Saturday (Oct. 21) at the Roger Williams University Aquatics Center.

RWU's depth proved to much for the competition, as the Hawks racked up 257 points and the victory. Sharing second was the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth and Regis College (Mass.) at 55 points, followed by Clark University (48) and the Nor'easters (45).

Individuals scoring for UNE included Kayla Burgess with 3rd in the 200-yard freestyle (2:07.28) and 5th in the 100 butterfly (1:05.13), MiKayla Sargent at 6th in the 500 freestyle (5:54.64), and Faith Belleavoine with 8th in the 100 breaststroke (1:17.79).

The relay squad of Taryn Leach, Julia Luedee, Burgess, and McKenna Riley touched the wall 3rd in the 200 medley relay (2:02.17). Riley, Haleigh Kology, Sargent, and Burgess were 4th in the 400 freestyle relay (4:05.82), while Leach, Kelsey Moulton, Kology, and Sargent wound up 5th in the 200 freestyle relay (1:54.45).

The Nor'easters are slated to visit Mount Holyoke College in two weeks (Nov. 4).
