Kendra MacDonald registered a hat trick to pace the University of New England past Gordon College, 7-0, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) field hockey action Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 17) at the Brigham Athletic Complex.
The Nor'easters won for the sixth consecutive outing, improving to 13-4 overall and 9-1 in conference games. The Fighting Scots, who have dropped the last eight meetings with UNE, fall back to 3-11 (1-8 CCC).
MacDonald opened the scoring just 2:15 into the contest, and later added goals in the 14th and 64th minutes.
Eight other players tallied either a goal or an assist for the visiting squad.
Brooke Lemerise (7th) and
Olivia Madore (27th) helped make it a 4-0 cushion at halftime with markers before the break, while
Liz Clark (49th) and
Vonde Saunders (58th) joined MacDonald as the 2nd-half scorers.
Liz Sargent recorded a save in each period for her sixth shutout of the season. The Nor'easters finished with a 21-7 advantage in shot attempts.
For Gordon, Julia Altman totaled three saves.
UNE pays a visit to Salve Regina University (7-3 CCC) on Saturday.
