BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The University of New England men's cross country squad placed 4th out of 12 institutions at the Maine Championship, which was held Saturday afternoon (Oct. 14) on the campus of Bowdoin College.
While the host Polar Bears had the top two runners, including champion Ben Torda with an 8-kilometer time of 25:25, Bates College claimed seven of the next 10 spots to post a team score of 31. Bowdoin followed with 42, and the University of Southern Maine (69), the Nor'easters (149), and Colby College (159) booked the remainder of the initial five.
Ben Wright led UNE with a 29th-place effort and a time of 27:33.
Donovan Duffy (34th),
Matthew Toussaint (41st),
Caleb Pulliam (60th), and
Jon Zalman (63rd) completed the Nor'easters' number.
UNE will resume action on October 28 when the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship is run at Rotary Park.
