BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England women's swimming team collected all 12 individual races and both relays on the way to a 203-55 victory over Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Monday afternoon (Jan. 16) at the Campus Center Pool.
Eight different swimmers settled in the top spot for the Nor'easters (4-2), led by
Emily Fellows,
Lindsey Thomsen,
Briana Goud, and
McKenna Riley with two wins apiece.
Eleni Bautz,
Andrea Rybicki,
Kayla Burgess, and
Taryn Leach added one each.
Fellows claimed the 1,650-freestyle (20:15.46) and 500-freestyle (5:57.53), while Thomsen touched first in the 50-freestyle (25.83) and 50-butterfly (28.74), and Riley took the 200-freestyle (2:11.80) and 100-backstroke (1:07.79). Goud edged out teammates for both of her results -- she bested
Jordan Earley by 0.32 with a 35.99 in the 50-breaststroke, and
Faith Belleavoine by 0.18 after a 1:18.33 in the 100-breaststroke.
Rybicki was 0.17 ahead of Burgess with a 31.79 in the 50-backstroke, before Burgess later won the 200-individual medley (2:27.56). Bautz clocked 58.12 to take the 100-freestyle, and Leach was just under a second faster than
Nicole Robitaille to win the 100-butterfly (1:07.23).
In the relays, Thomsen, Goud, Burgess, and Bautz grouped to finish atop the 200-medley relay (2:00.96), and Bautz, Riley, Thomsen, and Burgess were the quickest bunch in the 200-freestyle relay (1:46.80).
UNE heads to Gordon College on Tuesday for a 1 p.m. meet.
