BIDDEFORD, Maine --
Gabriella Moscato scored with 3:04 remaining in regulation to rally the University of New England to a 3-3 tie with Colby College in non-conference women's ice hockey action Tuesday evening (Jan. 10) at the Harold Alfond Forum.
Moscato,
Cassandra Connolly and
Gabby Crugnale each had a goal for the Nor'easters (5-6-2), while Katie McLaughlin tallied twice and Delaney Flynn once for Colby (0-9-3).
With her team trailing 3-2 and time winding down in regulation, Moscato stuffed home a rebound after a shot by
Kierra Wright was saved by Colby goaltender Halley Fine

UNE would have the better part of play in the five-minute overtime, outshooting the Mules 6-2, but Fine came up with several key stops to salvage a tie for Colby. The Nor'easters' best chance in the extra session came with two minutes on the clock. Fine stoned
Shannon Smith on a point-blank shot before Crugnale whistled the rebound off the crossbar.Â
Colby opened the game with a goal in the first minute of play when McLaughlin redirected a shot from the point by Anna Rudinski into the cage for her first goal of the year.
Connolly would tie the game at 4:25 of the second, flicking home the puck from the low slot

Annie Mullen and
Tatum Gietl assisted on the play.
UNE took the lead just 1:23 later when Crugnale converted from close range after Wright and Moscato displayed some nifty passing

The Mules took the lead in the third with a couple of early goals. Set-up in the low slot, Flynn was the recipient of a feed from the right circle by Kailey Buxbaum, and she drove the puck home with just 1:56 elapsed in the period to tie the score, 2-2. McLaughlin would give the visitors a 3-2 advantage four minutes later when she scored on another redirect. Izzy Tegtmeyer and Sasha Fritts assisted the goal.
For UNE,
Sydney Helmbrecht stopped 39 of the 42 shots that came her way, while Fine finished with 26 saves for the Mules.
Both teams return to action Friday in conference games. The Nor'easters will host the University of Southern Maine for a New England Hockey Conference tilt beginning at 7 p.m. Colby travels to Williams College for a 7 p.m. NESCAC contest.
