BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England men's cross country team finished runner-up at the 2016 UNE Early-Season Invitational, which was held Saturday morning (Sept. 3) at Rotary Park.
The Nor'easters posted a score of 40 to finish seven points behind winner University of Maine Farmington (33). St. Joseph's College of Maine rounded out the field with an aggregate total of 47.
Caleb Pulliam was the first UNE runner to cross the line, placing fifth with a five-kilometer time of 17:47.
Ben Wright was seventh overall with a time of 17:51, while
Jon Zalman (8th, 18:12) and
Alec Walker (9th, 18:14) came next.
Zachary Benoit also scored for the Nor'easters, finishing 11th with a time of 18:54.
Robbie Hollis of UMF edged St. Joe's Nick Shuckrow by a second to finish first. Hollis registered a time of 17:13 for the win.
The Nor'easters will return to Rotary Park next Saturday (Sept. 10) when they host the annual University of New England Invitational. The men's race is scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m.
