BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England men's cross country squad utilized an outstanding team effort to come away with the win at the 2016 UNE Invitational held at Rotary Park on Saturday (Sept. 10).

The Nor'easters totaled 75 points to edge Commonwealth Coast Conference rival Wentworth Institute of Technology by four points to take the team title. Plymouth State University was third with 89 points. Reigning National Runner of the Week Damon Kilgore of Gordon College, took the individual title, topping the field of 154 runners by nearly a minute with a time of 25:35 over the eight-kilometer loop.

Paul Mangiafico was the first UNE runner to cross the line, taking seventh place with a time of 28:09. Matthew Toussaint (12th; 28:42), Ben Wright (16th; 28:57), Casey Hubbard (17th; 29:10) and Caleb Pulliam (23rd; 29:28) pulled together to help the Nor'easters to victory.

UNE returns to competition next Saturday at the Bowdoin College Invitational. Start time is listed as 2 p.m.
