NORTHFIELD, Vt. -- The nationally-ranked Norwich University Cadets received goals from five different players on their way to a 5-0 shutout of the University of New England in a New England Hockey Conference women's game played Saturday evening (Feb. 13) at Kreitzberg Arena.

The Cadets, ranked eighth in the United States College Hockey Online poll and seventh in the D3Hockey.com national poll, improved their overall record to 17-6-0 (14-1-0 NEHC) with their eighth consecutive victory and climbed into first place in the conference standings with 28 points. Madison Gallagher gave Norwich the only scoring it would need, converting an assist from Adelle Murphy less than four minutes into the contest. The Cadets made it 2-0 at 13:39 when Maki Shuchuk found the net. Christine Bouchat-Bonin and Carly Menges set-up the goal.

Norwich put the game out of reach with a pair of goals in the middle frame. Maggie Conroy notched her first of the season at 8:28, and Bryn Labbe added another 1:10 later.

Erin Joyce would tack on another marker in the third for the Cadets, who finished the game with a commanding 32-12 advantage in shots on goal. Goaltender Celeste Robert stopped all 12 she saw to register the shutout.

Sydney Helmbrecht had 16 saves in 46:37 of action for the Nor'easters. Samantha Scobee relieved Helmbrecht and accumulated 11 saves without surrendering a goal the rest of the way.

UNE will conclude the regular season next Friday and Saturday with a road game at New England College (7 p.m. Friday) and home contest versus UMass Boston (3 p.m. Saturday).
