NEW LONDON, N.H. -- Lindsey Thomsen and Kayla Burgess accounted for five individual victories as the University of New England recorded 502.5 points to win the five-team Colby-Sawyer College Invitational on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 3) at the Knight Natatorium.

After the Nor'easters, Bridgewater State University (285), the host Chargers (257), Western New England University (185), and Gordon College (94.5) rounded out the competition.

Thomsen touched the wall first in the 100-breaststroke (1:10.18), the 50-freestyle (25.00), and the 100-freestyle (54.50). In both free swims, second-place went to Eleni Bautz. Thomsen's 50-free pace bettered her own pool record from last season.

Burgess was tops in the 400-individual medley (5:08.01) and the 100-butterfly (1:04.23). Also collecting a triumph for UNE on the day was Nicole Robitaille in the 200-butterfly (2:25.55).

Big Blue led the way in both relay events, as well -- the 200-medley (1:57.25) of Taryn Leach, Thomsen, Burgess, and Bautz, and then the 400-freestyle (3:50.26) of McKenna Riley, Burgess, Bautz, and Thomsen. The 400-free group improved on its pool record from a year ago.

Leach (100-backstroke), Riley (200-freestyle), Emily Fellows (500-freestyle), and Jordan Earley (200-breaststroke) gave UNE a total of six runner-up efforts in the meet.

The Nor'easters will now break until January 16 and a home date with Saint Joseph's College (Maine).
