WESTFIELD, Mass. -- The University of New England men's cross country team placed 13th out of 41 institutions at the James Earley Invitational (Westfield State University) on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 8) at Stanley Park.

Big Blue's scoring total of 449 came from the individual efforts of Paul Mangiafico (40th - 26:48), Matthew Toussaint (85th - 27:37), Caleb Pulliam (110th - 27:53), Jon Zalman (120th - 28:03), and Ben Wright (142nd - 28:22).

The field of 432 runners was topped by the 8K time of 25:10 from Damon Kilgore of Gordon College.

Brandeis University did enough to claim the team crown, posting a score of 68 to finish ahead of Tufts University (108), Norwich University (189), Williams College (204) and Fitchburg State University (207) in the top five squads.

The Nor'easters are scheduled to compete at the Western New England University Invitational next Saturday (11:15 a.m.).
