BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The University of New England fought its way to a double-digit first-half advantage and cruised to a 31-15 women's rugby victory over Bowdoin College Friday afternoon (Oct. 7) at Pickard Rugby Field.

With the win the nationally-ranked Nor'easters improved to 4-1, while the Polar Bears suffered their first defeat to drop to 2-1. UNE was ranked 15th in the most recent The Rugby Breakdown Division II national ranking; Bowdoin was fourth.

Caitlin Paredes led the Nor'easters with three tries. Lara Murnik and Amanda Sancomb added one apiece. Kassidy Towne was 3-for-4 on conversion attempts.

Defensively, UNE was paced by Zoe Adams' eight tackles. Andrea Call contributed five.

The Nor'easters are off until next Sunday (Oct. 16) when they host Norwich University at 1 p.m.
