CANTON, N.Y. -- The SUNY Canton Roos scored twice in the final 2:46 to rally for a 3-2 win over the University of New England in non-league women's ice hockey action Saturday afternoon at the Roos House.
Trailing 2-1 in the closing stages of the game, Tess Adams and Jessica Pele scored less than a minute apart to lift the Roos to victory. Emily Corrales scored twice for the Nor'easters (0-2). She tied the game (1-1) at 8:28 of the second with UNE on the power play, assisted by
Annie Mullen and
Melissa Boudreau. She would later give the Nor'easters a 2-1 lead 13:20 into the final frame, converting on a broken play with a wrap-round from behind the cage.
Brooke Susac had 25 saves to record the victory, while
Sydney Helmbrecht had 29 for UNE.
The Nor'easters will open New England Hockey Conference play on Friday when they travel to the University of Southern Maine for a 4 p.m. contest.
