BREWSTER, Mass. -- The University of New England men's golf team wrapped up the fall season with a 14th-place showing in the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship, which finished up play on Monday (Oct. 24) at The Captains Course (Port Course).
Babson College bettered Husson University by seven strokes on day two, and won the event by that margin, as the Beavers ended with a 617 total and the Eagles 624. Overnight leader Nichols College slipped to third at 633, while Tufts University rose to share fourth with Western New England University at 635.
Chris Bornhorst of Babson and Zachary Temple of Castleton University tied at 148 for the low individual honors.
After 328 on Sunday, the Nor'easters posted 330 in Round 2 for a score of 658.
Sam Kinasewich (159) led the effort with a 7-over-par 79, and
Michael Rich (162) tossed in an 82.
Ryan Mahoney (167) and
Brendan Foley (172) went for 84 and 85, respectively. Like Foley,
Garrett Krisko had a 172 total over the 36 holes.
UNE now will be off until late April, when the finals of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship are scheduled to be contested. The victor of that two-day tournament will continue onto the NCAA Division III Championship.
