Nor'easters share 2nd place at CCC Invite

BRISTOL, R.I. -- The University of New England women's swimming team finished in a tie for 2nd out of the seven squads competing at the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Invitational on Saturday (Oct. 22) at the Roger Williams University Aquatics Center.

The host Hawks pulled away from the field to win the event with 237 points. The Nor'easters and Regis College (Mass.) ended with 63 points, while Clark University came in a close fourth at 61 points.

Lindsey Thomsen led the UNE effort with a 2nd-place showing in the 50-yard freestyle (25.59) and then a 4th-place result in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.70). Big Blue's other top-five individual performance came from Brie Wurst in the 200 freestyle (2:07.90), good for 5th place.

The 400 freestyle relay group of Wurst, McKenna Riley, Eleni Bautz, and Thomsen took 2nd place with a time of 3:54.30 to cap the meet.

The Nor'easters now have two weeks off before hosting Mount Holyoke College on November 5 (1 p.m.).
