Sam Kinasewich logged a 76 and
Brendan Foley came in with 77 to help the University of New England men's golf team finish in 3rd place out the 10 competing teams at the USM Fall Classic on Monday (Oct. 10), as Round 2 concluded at Gorham Country Club.
The event results are based on 27 holes of action, after Sunday's Round 1 play was cut short due to weather.
Husson University (145-304) won the title with a score of 449, 10 strokes better than the host Huskies (150-309). The Nor'easters (474) passed three teams from the overnight standings to occupy the next spot, while the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth (477) and the University of Maine-Farmington (479) rounded out the top five. Bowdoin College (480), Nichols College (482), and Saint Joseph's College (483) came in not far behind.
The winning effort for the Eagles was led by Mackenzie Clow, who carded a 2-under-par 69 to end up at 105 overall and five ahead of teammate Daulton Wickenden.
Kinasewich (115) and Foley (117) were backed up by scores of 80 and 81 by
Ryan Mahoney (126) and
Michael Rich (122), respectively, to establish UNE's day-two total of 314.
The opening-round team mark of 160 received contributions from Kinasewich (39), Foley (40),
Jackson Tucker (40), and Rich (41).
Big Blue now has two weeks off before taking part in the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship on October 23-24, which will be at The Captains Course in Massachusetts.
