Melissa Boudreau provided the University of New England with a 2-1 overtime victory against Nichols College in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) women's ice hockey action Friday evening (Jan. 22) at the Harold Alfond Forum.
With 1:49 gone in the extra frame, UNE moved the puck around the top to the right circle and Boudreau, whose push into the middle deflected off a stick and trickled just inside the near post.
Mary Wirth and
Marissa Clifford-Biederman picked up assists on the winning tally.

The Nor'easters (9-5-2, 4-4-1 NEHC) -- unbeaten in their last five (4-0-1) -- dominated the scoring chances in the contest, finishing with 48-20 advantage. The Bison (2-14-0, 0-8-0 NEHC) were able to stay close thanks to the goaltending of Lindsay O'Connell, who registered 46 saves on the night.
Scoreless through two periods, UNE grabbed a 1-0 edge less than two minutes into the 3rd when
Gabby Crugnale carried up the right side and put a mid-range shot off a Nichols player and up over the head of O'Connell.
The Bison responded before the midway mark of the period, capitalizing on a UNE giveaway just inside the blue line. Julia Mastrototaro picked up the loose puck and weaved between a defender and the goalie to slip the equalizer into the net.
Sydney Helmbrecht secured the result for the Nor'easters, making 19 saves.
UNE will head to face the University of Southern Maine next Friday (4 p.m.).
