ResultsSTANDISH, Maine -- Winners in 13-of-14 races, the University of New England women's swimming team cruised to a 195-62 result against Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Monday afternoon (Jan. 18) at the Harold Alfond Center.
Beyond two relays, eight different swimmers from UNE (5-2) earned first-place status in the meet, with
Rachael Romain,
Lindsey Thomsen, and
Emily Chamberlain each doubling up for the Nor'easters. Romain claimed the 100-breaststroke (1:17.72) and the 200-individual medley (2:32.86), Thomsen took the 50-freestyle (26.31) and the 50-butterfly (29.38), and Chamberlain captured the 200-freestyle (2:09.09) and the 500-freestyle (5:49.79).
Eleni Bautz got on the board for the Nor'easters in the 100-freestyle (1:00.08), and
Emily Fellows added to the UNE total with the top spot in the 1,000-freestyle (12:01.63).
Kayla Burgess in the 50-backstroke (31.63),
Cassie Berger in the 100-backstroke (1:10.11), and
Nicole Robitaille in the 100-butterfly (1:08.62) rounded out the list of winners for Big Blue.
The closest competition of the day (50-breaststroke) went to Annie Fougere of Saint Joseph's (1-5), who clocked a 36.74 to edge Berger by 0.16 seconds.
UNE will have 12 days off before hosting Elms College on Saturday, January 30.
