CASCO, Maine -- Paced by rounds of 77 from Paul Butkevich and Ryan Mahoney, the University of New England tied for second out of five teams at the John Queenan Memorial Tournament hosted by Saint Joseph's College on Tuesday (Sep. 8). UNE's total of 318 at Point Sebago Golf Club was three strokes out of the top spot.

The University of Southern Maine had just one score below 80, but the team number of 315 was good enough for the victory. The host Monks matched UNE at 318, with Husson University (323) and UMaine Farmington (333) filling out the field.

The Nor'easters added in scores of 82 by Sam Kinasewich and Mike Rich to settle on the final total. Troy Eaton posted an 83 on the par 72 track.

Greg Martin of Husson carded the low round of the day (71) for the individual title.

UNE will have 10 days off before competing in the State of Maine Championship. The two-day event at Fairlawn Golf & Country Club in Poland is scheduled to begin on Saturday, September 19.
