ResultsBANGOR, Maine -- The University of New England men's golf team bettered its total from day one of the Husson University Invitational at Bangor Municipal Golf Course by one stroke on Sunday (Sep. 27), finishing with a 36-hole score of 615 to share 3rd place in the field of 11 institutions. The title went to Saint Joseph's College (600), which held onto its narrow overnight lead to edge the host Eagles.
With matching scores of 301 in Round 2, the Monks stayed one in front of Husson (601) for the win. The Nor'easters (308-307) and the University of Southern Maine (310-305) came next in the order of finish, with Bowdoin College (307-318) rounding out the top five at 625.
Husson's Greg Martin backed up a two-under-par 67 with a 72 to claim the medalist honors (139), two ahead of Bates College's Brad Rutkin.

Paul Butkevich fired a 75 on day two for a 146 total and a
tie for third individually. Contributing rounds of 77 to the Sunday team score was
Ryan Mahoney (155) and
Garrett Krisko (165), with
Sam Kinasewich (156) coming in with another 78.
Mike Rich (162) logged his second straight 81.Â
Big Blue will head to the Maine Maritime Academy Invitational on Thursday for its next action.
