MIDDLETOWN, R.I. -- Abigail Tepper redirected home a shot off the stick of Marissa Gagnon with eight minutes gone in the 2nd half, and Salve Regina University held on to defeat the University of New England, 1-0, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) field hockey action Saturday afternoon (Sep. 26) at Gaudet Field.

Winners of five in the last six, the Seahawks (6-2) improve to 2-1 in league outings. The Nor'easters (6-3) take their first CCC setback, dipping to 3-1.

After a scoreless 1st half, in which SRU held a 15-12 advantage in shots and 7-3 in penalty corners, Tepper provided the difference in the moments following the only corner of the closing period for either side. The Seahawks had a 7-6 edge in shots during the final 35 minutes.
