Vonde Saunders put back a rebound in front.
Quality chances went both ways down the stretch prior to Matarozzo's winner in the 64th minute.
Kersey Boulay gathered possession in the midfield and carried it all the way into the circle before setting up the goal.
Big Blue managed to negate any attacking threats by the Engineers in the closing moments to secure the result.

Holly Smith logged seven saves. Her counterpart from MIT, Evie Kyritsis, was in position to make 16 stops.
The Nor'easters held a 14-3 edge in shots during the 1st half, and got on the board early (4:07) when a long rebound came out to
Brooke Marshall and she guided a shot through a crowd into the net.
The Engineers leveled things in the 25th minute, as Tregoning inserted a penalty corner directly to Emily Penn on the right portion of the circle for a blast into the left side. For Penn, it was her ninth marker of the season.
UNE opens up Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Wednesday (6 p.m.) with a home match against Roger Williams University.
