ResultsPhotosHALIFAX, Mass. -- The University of New England totaled 332 to finish in 5th place out of the seven teams vying to advance to the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship, as the 18-hole Qualifying Tournament was played Tuesday (Oct. 6) at the Country Club of Halifax.
Defending champion Western New England University placed first on the day with a score of 306 -- one of the four programs moving into the final. Endicott College (312), Roger Williams University (312), and Nichols College (318) will join the Golden Bears for a 36-hole event on April 30-May 1 to determine the winner.
Nick Shemkovitz of WNE and Josh Unkrich of RWU shared the low individual round of three-over-par 75.
For the Nor'easters,
Paul Butkevich carded a 77 to tie in the fourth spot.
Mike Rich supported with an 82, while
Sam Kinasewich and
Ryan Mahoney rounded out the UNE number with totals of 86 and 87, respectively.
Big Blue gets back to work on Friday (10 a.m.) with the UNE Invitational at Cape Arundel Golf Club in Kennebunkport.
