Box Score

PLYMOUTH, N.H. -- A 1st-period goal by sophomore Gabby Crugnale and 31 saves out of classmate Sydney Helmbrecht guided the University of New England to a 1-1 overtime draw with Plymouth State University in ECAC East women's ice hockey action Saturday afternoon (Jan. 31) at Hanaway Rink.

The Panthers (3-15-2, 3-8-1 ECAC East) received a power-play score from Olivia Leon early in the 2nd frame to pull even with UNE (4-11-4, 1-8-2 ECAC East), and the teams played the remaining 40:30 to no result.

Alyssa Altschuler nearly matched Helmbrecht in the save column, posting 30 stops in the PSU net.

Crugnale capitalized on a turnover with nine minutes remaining in the initial stanza and nudged a backhand just inside the right post. The Nor'easters had a 13-7 advantage in shots during the 1st.

Neon then pocketed the equalizer with assists going to Courtney Evans and Kelsey Lynch. Plymouth State reversed the shot margin in the middle period, holding a 16-9 edge.

Both sides had chances in OT, but the goaltenders continued to maintain the deadlock.

UNE heads to the College of Holy Cross on Friday (7 p.m.) for its next outing.
