GORHAM, Maine -- The University of New England placed 2nd at the Southern Maine Cup on Friday (Sep. 26), a modified-format event contested at the par-71 Gorham Country Club. Despite their lowest score in recent years, the Nor'easters (215) finished runner-up to the host Huskies (209) for a fourth straight season.
Saint Joseph's College (233) and the University of Maine-Farmington (246) rounded out the four-team field. The event annually provides a break from the traditional style of collegiate golf, pairing teammates for an 18-hole round that consists of three sections -- six holes in the format of best ball, six holes of scramble, and six holes of alternate shot.
