Box Score

BEVERLY, Mass. -- Ashleigh Allen drove home the game-winner 1:53 into overtime as Endicott College completed a comeback from two goals down in a 3-2 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) field hockey victory over the University of New England on Tuesday evening (Sep. 23) at North Field.

The win keeps the Gulls (7-1) unbeaten in CCC games at 3-0, while the Nor'easters slip back to 5-2 (3-1 CCC) with the end of their five-game winning streak.

Trailing 2-0 after an early 2nd-half goal, Endicott sliced into the margin in the 46th minute on a goal by Emily Sawchuck. Olivia Larson pulled the host side even in the 61st minute, redirecting in a push off the stick of Sawchuck.

Allen's shot in the extra session was the first of the frame. For the night, UNE held a 22-12 edge in shot attempts.

Big Blue allowed limited scoring chances to the Gulls in the opening stanza, and finally broke through for the initial lead with 0:07 left before intermission on a goal by first-year Olivia Madore.

Then 2:40 after halftime, sophomore Nicole Matarozzo doubled the cushion for the Nor'easters.

For Endicott, Francheska Ventura made 12 saves, while her counterpart, UNE sophomore Holly Smith, turned in five stops.

The Nor'easters are back at home on Saturday (1 p.m.) for a date with Roger Williams University.
